Don’t know how she does it?
As the famous movie title once said ever so accurately, we working moms always find that instead of sleeping, we do the list.
Whether Sarah Jessica Parker nailed the performance to your real life scenario or not, the reality is that we women are programmed to generally take on more than we ever thought we could. And guess what? We can do it all and still look fabulous!
So here are some of our key tips on how to ‘do it all’ from one do-it-all to the next do-it-all:
1. Organisation is key - Being organised is the only way that you will be able to manage and multi task as a working mom. It is also something that helps you keep sane because you will feel comforted in knowing that things are in place.
2. Productivity is of utmost importance - When you are a working mom you realise how much "less" time you have to get work things done. This doesn't mean that it is not possible to get things done, it just means you have to be smart about your time. Being able to be concise, to the point and sticking to an agenda are all a must. There is no time or need to be in a meeting that takes 3 hours when it could have taken 30 minutes.
3. Being solutions focussed - As a working mom and in general, we will always have curve balls thrown at us at same stage during the day or week. The most important thing to remember when this happens is to remain calm and be solution focussed. Acknowledge the problem and quickly work out a solution to the problem and then act accordingly. As we would say "Always be prepared for things to go wrong and have a backup plan".
Other than that we are obviously human and have had many occasions when we have forgotten to fetch our kids from school, or forgotten that we had invited people over for dinner or even forgotten about a meeting being set up. The most important thing to note is that we made a plan and we got through it, as can you!
